Back on September 26, 1962, an event occurred that forever changed the face of TV. We were introduced to the Clampetts, an Ozark hillbilly family, who accidentally struck it rich when patriarch Jed, while hunting, shot the ground and struck oil. Over the next nine years we watched their awkward lives in a big mansion in Beverly Hills, California. Even though the show never won an Emmy award, The Beverly Hillbillies was an instant hit and ranked as the number one television series its first two years on-air, with a few of the episodes scoring some of the top ratings of all-time. This DVD features a classic Christmas episode, as the Beverly Hillbillies get through the holidays in their own unique fashion.
The Christmas Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet:
Ozzie and Harriet Nelson's legendary show originated on CBS Radio in 1944, with the original title The Ozzie Nelson - Harriet Hilliard Show. But once they moved to television in 1952, prime time would change forever. Their 14-year TV run was a network record (ABC) for a sitcom, and created a standard for many shows to come. This DVD features two classic holiday episodes; Busy Christmas and The Late Christmas Gift, as the Nelsons demonstrate the true spirit of the holidays.
Jack Benny Christmas:
With Jack Benny's popularity on the stage in the late 1920s, it was only a matter of time before he received a film offer and became a star. His 1930s radio show was an instant smash hit. But before the airing of his new TV program, Benny was worried about how his audience would respond to seeing him and his cast on-screen, so during the first five years of television broadcasts, Jack's audience could listen to him on the radio from 7:00 until 7:30, then switch on their TVs to watch him there from 7:30 to 8:00. On May 22, 1955 Jack's show left radio for good. The Jack Benny Show boasted a weekly audience of 18 million viewers, and lasted for 343 episodes. It was retired to TV history in 1965. This DVD features two classic holiday episodes, showcasing Jack Benny at his funniest! |
