Created, embodied and immortalized by Shintaro Katsu, Zatoichi was a Japanese pop culture mainstay for more than a quarter of a century beginning in 1962. What began as a successful series of films, the popular character made a successful transition to television from 1974-1979. The series ran for 100 episodes and never lost sight of its climactic vision. Season One of the Zatoichi TV Series" (Zatoichi Monogatari or The Tales of Zatoichi) continues with Volume 3.
