Thirteen-year old Charlotte (Charlotte Gainsbourg) lives with her widowed father and older brother in Savioe. Jaded and depressed, she struggles to pass the time with their housekeeper Leone (Bernadette Lafont) and her sickly friend Lulu (Julie Glenn). But everything changes when Clara, a gifted young pianist, comes to town. Longing to escape her dull life, Charlotte makes plans to join the virtuoso on tour.
