| The Abbott and Costello TV Show is timeless American humor, as fresh today as it was 40 years ago. All the classic routines which "the boys" performed on film, radio and stage, were captured in 1952-1953 for the new medium of television and delivered at the peak of their powers.
The regular cast of characters, including Mr. Fields, Mike the Cop, Stinky, Bacciagalupe and Hillary, had worked with Bud and Lou on film and stage and each contributed memorably. These shows stand today as perhaps the finest surviving representation of the art of burlesque comedy.
This disc includes four episodes.
"Duck Dinner": Lou's selling pots and pans and cooks a dinner for the whole gang at the roominghouse to demonstrate the utility of his wares. Chaos in the kitchen ensues as Lou first refuses to kill the cute duck for dinner and then accidentally stuffs a replacement chicken with yeast so that it floats up to the ceiling.
"Hillary's Birthday": The boys plan a birthday party for Hillary and drive Mr. Fields to distraction, first in the food store and later in their apartment. Lou is caught up in an impossible situation when Fields repeatedly comes into the apartment demanding the radio be lowered, but Bud insists each time that he raise the volume - one of their truly classic routines!
"Million Dollar Refund": In error, Lou gets a tax refund of $1,000,000 and after cashing it walks out of the bank in his long underwear holding piles of money in his arms. Crooks follow and try to rob him and Mike the Cop, who thinks Lou has counterfeited the money, generates a wild encounter at the roominghouse with cops, crooks, treasury agents, Mr. Fields and many others.
"Actor's Home": Lou tends Bacciagalupe's ice cream push cart and Stinky throws Limburger cheese into it. Soon thereafter a nutty millionaire gives the boys a $500 bill which Bud tears up thinking it's counterfeit. When he finds out it was real money, Bud goes completely crazy and is carted away to the old actors' home, where after convincing them he's not nuts, he and Lou entertain the folks with a brilliant performance of their famous "Who's on First" routine. | we accept the following cards:
